Week 21: The Zoo
Type of writing: TripAdvisor Review.
I visited
on Tuesday 29th September for my grandfather’s birthday treat. But let
me be the first to say, it was a treat for the whole family. The whole day was
great: from the rhinos pooing (why don’t they have a nappy like me) to the
flamingos' argy-bargy, I loved every minute of it.
My favourite
bit was seeing the giraffes though. Giraffes are my mum’s favourite animal. Her
and my dad say, ‘You’re so long one day you’ll be as tall as a giraffe.’
Therefore, it was good to go and have a look at them to see what height I will
reach. They sure are tall. One even looked taller than my dad. And he’s a giant
– like that chap from the beanstalk book.
I also like
the monkey who seemed to just stare at me. I sometimes stare at things too. It
helps me take in what I see, get a sense of it, appreciate what I’m looking at.
It’s good to take a long hard look at something. You could call me a ‘details
man’ in that regard.
My mum used
to go to the zoo when she was my age. She said she’s sad to hear the sea lions
are moving to Yorkshire. She said, ‘It’s like media city. A lot of jobs are
moving out of London to grow other economies. Maybe, they’re doing the same
with animals.’ She don’t half prattle on sometimes.
I was
surprised, however, by the advertised baby rhino. Now, I’m a baby; I know what
size a baby is. And this rhino was no baby. I won’t be reporting it to Trading
Standards but I do think the zoo needs to look at this.
Also, I do
unfortunately have to criticise the zoo on the Butterfly Enclosure. They are so
eye-catching; however, they’re not catching. I held my hand out for
hours to hold one, but they just kept flying away. The zoo needs to have a long
hard Paddington look at itself and make the butterflies keep still so young
people like me can have a better look at them.
Minor
quibbles though. On the whole, a grand day out. My grandfather loved it. More
importantly, I loved it.
