Week 44: The Gym
Meet Your New Inspiration
If you’re seeking
fitness inspiration, look no further than this baby: Jude Ellis
Theivamanoharan.
This week Jude
attended his first Gymboree class, whose play-centred approach leads to
enhanced physical development.
After just one
session, Jude went from not being able to pull himself up, to being able to
pull himself into standing position. Some might call this natural coincidence,
but in no way is it coincidence. So how did he do it? We asked his dad Ryan to
provide the answers.
Men’s Fitness: How did Jude make such rapid progress in an hour’s
session?
Dad: It comes down to 100% commitment. Success is 99%
perspiration, 1% inspiration. Jude sweats for his victories. If you’re not
perspiring, you’re not aspiring is what we keep telling him. By the end of his
session the staff had to mop the floor: the moisture that emanated from him was
a health and safety risk. He gives everything to be the best version of
himself.
Men’s Fitness: Did it surprise you what he achieved?
Dad: Surprise would suggest doubt and I don’t experience
doubt when it comes to Jude. Doubt is a ceiling. We don’t put ceilings on Jude.
Not even glass ones. He is a house without a roof. A sightseeing bus. An
open-top car. Even the sky is not the limit. There are no limits.
Men’s Fitness: What do you put your rapid progress down to?
Dad: He eats well. Due to his allergies, he has a wheat
and dairy-free diet. Do you know who else has such a diet? Novak Djokovic.
Essentially, he eats like the greatest tennis player of all time. He has fruit
for breakfast, sweet potato for lunch and an assortment of vegetables for
dinner. We’ve tried offering him apple pie and custard, sticky toffee pudding, ice cream
sundae but he just turns his nose up. His body is a temple – and we should all
worship there.
Men’s Fitness: What’s next for Jude?
Dad: Now, he can stand up. Walking is the next natural
step. But we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves with walking: he’s still
young. I say to him, ‘Jude: don’t worry about walking. Just one step at a time,
son.’
Men’s
Fitness: Thank you.
Dad: Thank you.
